'Solving Challenges in Reproductive Health'
On 1st April 2004 the University of Adelaide established the Research Centre for Reproductive Health
(RCRH) to bring together all aspects of research related to investigation and improvement in reproductive
health. Although RCRH is new, research in reproductive medicine has been conducted through the School
of Paediatrics and Reproductive Health, Discipline of
Obstetrics & Gynaecology for over 30 years.
Our Scope -
RCRH will advance knowledge, find solutions and undertake clinical and commercial translation of research outcomes in human and animal reproduction.
-
RCRH research focuses on gonadal function, gametogenesis, fertilization, embryo development, implantation, pregnancy and contraception.
-
RCRH activities span molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and
epigenetics, endocrinology, immunology, epidemiology, statistics and
mathematics across the disciplines of cell biology, physiology,
pathology, public health and behaviour.
Why We're Different RCRH is a leading worldwide centre of excellence because it: -
Undertakes research across the continuum of oogenesis to post conception
-
Has strong clinical ties and associations to enhance research projects and implementation of research findings
-
Focuses on early career scientists and postgraduate students through career mentoring, multidisciplinary understanding and structured programs
-
Utilises world standard equipment, facilities and resources within a vibrant work environment
-
Builds profile and recognition of its research through various awards (e.g. 2 Tall Poppy Awards in 2004 & 3 Tall Poppy Awards in 2005) and media coverage
-
Has Industry linkages and success in commercialisation that are encouraged without dominance over the enhancement of quality science
-
Obtains strong funding support, including a Program Grant and various NHMRC Research Fellowships
Management RCRH's Director, Professor Robert Norman is assisted by an Advisory Board consisting of: Both an Operations and Research Committee report to the Advisory Board or specifically to the Director.
