Renting a house or unit in the private rental market or joining an Renting a house or unit in the private rental market or joining an established household (share accommodation) with others offers students a high level of privacy and independence. It is a particularly good option for students who are familiar with Adelaide, or who have trusted associates willing to share the responsibility of renting. Whilst weekly rents may appear cheaper than other options in comparison, it is important to consider the additional costs of private rental accommodation, such as a security bond, furnishings, utilities, and telephone rental. Commercial Student Accommodation Commercial student accommodation refers to purpose built student accommodation facilities, situated off campus and managed by private management companies. |

Student hostels offer fully furnished bedrooms with shared bathroom, lounge and laundry facilities, are usually self-catering, and not affiliated with the University. |

Furnished apartments are suitable for short term stays while you are looking for long-term accommodation, or for visiting friends and relatives. |

Homestay Living or boarding in a home with a local person or family can be a great way for students to experience and learn more about Australia and our way of life. Homestay usually includes a furnished room, two or three meals per day and all expenses besides personal items and telephone calls. Homestay is best organised before you arrive in Adelaide and independently of the University Accommodation Service. |
