Priyanka - MalaysiaI am from Seremban, Malaysia and I am in my first year of Medicine. Before moving into The Village, I had been living in a College where I had a single room, shared a bathroom and meals were included. Living at The Village is like living at home – you have a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, balcony and most importantly –a family (your housemates!). Coming from a country like Malaysia, where forming community ties and interacting with neighbours is a way of life; I would have to say living at The Village is the closest thing to living at home. Although each townhouse is independent from one another, almost everyone knows everyone else. Social events are held every other week and they are organised by students for students. The Village also provides a very conducive environment for studying. Being able to cook is a huge advantage-nothing beats home cooked meals! In my previous accommodation we were not allowed to cook and I found it hard to adapt to the food that was provided because it was very different to what I ate at home in Malaysia. I always craved home cooked meals and often ate out which became expensive. Now that I can cook at The Village, I dine out less and save money! The location of The Village is excellent –the Central Market is the best place to shop for groceries and it doesn’t take long to get to Uni. Lots of my friends have visited me since moving into The Village and now they all want to move. |
