Subsidised Accommodation
This housing is share accommodation subsidised by the University of Adelaide.
Subsidised accommodation is provided primarily for first year students who are assessed as experiencing financial or special needs.
Special needs may include conditions that present unusual difficulties to a student's ability to commence studies at the University; or where relocation after commencement of a course is necessitated because of reasons beyond the student's control and which threatens successful continuation of studies. Special needs can cover students who are homeless, students moving from interstate with no family support or students moving from a rural area.
The Scheme offers a range of off-campus houses and flats (some old, some modern) convenient to either the Adelaide or Waite campuses, that is, generally within a 5-kilometre radius. Students are offered an initial lease of 6 months. At the end of this period, tenancy is reviewed and there may be a possibility of an extension of the lease for a further 6 months.
Rent varies depending on the type of housing and includes utilities. Students are expected to pay an up-front bond and 2 weeks rent in advance.
