We are pleased to invite you to Adelaide, South Australia,
to attend the Association of Commonwealth Universities Conference of Executive
Heads from 9-12 April 2006.
The Association of Commonwealth Universities is
the oldest and, with more than 500 members, one of the largest, university associations
in the world. Its name is widely recognised in international higher education,
and its meetings attract global attention.
The primary goal of ACU is to strengthen the success of its member universities
through international cooperation and understanding. The ACU has members across
the Commonwealth: its global focus is on issues impacting across the communities
of which its members are a part, from current developments in higher education
to funding sources for students; from new modes of communication to direct engagement
with poverty-reduction and public health, especially HIV/AIDS, in developing
countries.
The changing face of the ACU is among the themes to be explored in Adelaide.
Its ongoing role in national and international development in the 21st century
is at once a challenge and an opportunity. The road ahead for our global society
is one of many futures, interacting and impacting on one another. In Adelaide,
we planning a conference in which University Futures take centre stage: ways
by which the ACU can bring together and coordinate the many initiatives in which
universities are involved - within the Commonwealth and beyond.
Please flag 9-12 April 2006 in your diaries! We look forward to seeing you
at the conference.
