Visual Art Prize Exhibition30 March – 14 April 2006 This visual art prize exhibition is part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Conference. The aim of the prize is to offer an opportunity for tertiary student artists from Conference host countries, Australia and New Zealand, to create a work of art which reflects the personal or cultural complexities of life in their communities. Thirty-one works were selected from sixty-four entries submitted and they represent artists from nineteen Australian universities.
Both prizes are acquisitive in nature and the winning works will become part of ACU London Head Office Collection and the University of Adelaide Visual Art Collection respectively. Professor John Coetzee, Honorary Visiting Research Fellow, Department of English, School of Humanities, the University of Adelaide and 2003 Nobel Prize winner for literature will announce the winners on Monday 10 April 2006 at 1.30pm in the Bonython Hall. People's Choice Award: $500 The Vice Chancellor drew a winner from all the people who had voted in the People's Choice Award. The winner was Sera Hutson.
