ACU Conference of Executive Heads 9-12 April 2006 Delegate Update 1

The Conference is less than five weeks away.  We are looking forward to welcoming you to Adelaide. 

The Conference Program is continually being updated and the latest copy can be downloaded from the web at www.adelaide.edu.au/acu2006

ARRIVAL IN ADELAIDE

  • Welcome Guides will be at Adelaide Airport Friday 7th April to Sunday 9th April to assist you on your arrival in Adelaide.

FLIGHT TIMES

  • To ensure we can make arrangements for your transport to the City from the airport you are urged to advise this office of your flight details (flight number and arrival time plus departure time and date) by 31 March.

REGISTRATION

  • You can register for the Conference between 12 noon and 5.00pm Sunday 9th April at Bonython Hall at the University of Adelaide, North Terrace Adelaide.  
  • To assist with your registration please bring a copy of your Confirmation of Registration.
  • If you are unable to register before 5pm Sunday 9th April please proceed directly to the first official function at the Town Hall. See below for transport details.
  • The registration desk will re-open 8.00 am Monday 10th April.

TRANSPORT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE

Sunday 9th April.

  • Free shuttle buses will operate from all the major conference hotels to the University of Adelaide and return between 12 noon and 5.00pm. 

Monday 10th April.

  • Free shuttle buses will operate from all the major conference hotels to the University of Adelaide between 8.00am and 9.20am to take delegates to the Opening session and partners joining the Monday morning tour.

A detailed bus schedule for all events will be distributed at registration.

TRANSPORT TO THE OPENING CEREMONY AT THE ADELAIDE TOWN HALL

  • Free shuttle buses will operate from all the major conference hotels to the Adelaide Town Hall between 5.30pm and 6.00pm.  A return bus service will operate from 10pm.

 OPENING CEREMONY FORMAT - 6.00pm Sunday 9th April

  • The Opening Ceremony will now include a sit down dinner (formal attire) and will conclude at about 10.30pm.

NEW TOUR OPTIONS MONDAY-WEDNESDAY

Three new tour options for accompanying persons who have not purchased the Accompanying Persons package are now available. Adelaide Heritage Walk, A Taste of Adelaide (where you can sample a taste of Adelaide’s food, wine and culture) and Wine and Roses (learning about Australian Wines and a visit to an Elizabethan style manor house).

 HOTELS

  • If you have booked accommodation through this office, you should have received written confirmation of your booking.  If you have paid a deposit by credit card, this office has not debited your card.  We pass your card details and the amount authorised to the Hotel.  
  •  You will be expected to pay for your accommodation and any incidental costs on departure

OUTSTANDING FEES

All delegates are expected to pay for registration fees and function tickets PRIOR to the Conference.

TOURS

  • All tour bookings are not confirmed until paid.  Any tours that have not been paid by Friday 31 March may be cancelled at discretion of the tour operator.

 OVERSEAS DELEGATES

  • A travel visa is required by all overseas delegates coming to Australia.  Your status as conference delegate alone is not a guarantee that you will get a visa.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU APPLY FOR YOUR VISA WELL IN ADVANCE OF ANTICIPATED TRAVEL.  Refer to the website for information http://www.adelaide.edu.au/acu2006/travel/visa.html 
  • Details of all overseas delegates have been passed onto Australian Embassies and Consulates to assist you in obtaining a Visa.

SPECIAL NEEDS

  • If you have advised of special dietary requirements, the information has been forwarded to the venue, but it is your responsibility to let catering staff know your requirements so they can provide you with your specially prepared meal.

CONFIRMATION OF ARRANGEMENTS/RECEIPTS

  • All registrations, payments and hotel amendments are confirmed in writing.  If you have made changes or payments but have not received written confirmation please contact this office to ensure we have correct details.

NOTES TO PRESENTERS

  • Presenters are requested to report to the registration desk on arrival.  Please meet with your session chairperson in your session room 15-20 minutes prior to the commencement of the session.
