Preliminary Program

Conference Structure
New challenges often call for new approaches, and we are planning a modern, streamlined conference for Adelaide. Major themes will be introduced by high profile international speakers, with development of themes to take place in facilitated groups, with an emphasis on time for comment and sharing of ideas. It is not intended to make a call for papers.

Conference Venue
The business meeting will take place entirely on campus at The University of Adelaide, in a large, dedicated teaching and research precinct, refurbished in 2005 to top international standards.

Preliminary Schedule
The Conference commences on the afternoon of Sunday 9 April with Registration and a Reception hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Adelaide. Tours of the University and the North Terrace precinct will be available throughout the afternoon.

Business sessions are scheduled from Monday 10 April to Wednesday 12 April. Each day will follow largely the same format, with a variety of formats to be used for group sessions.

Themes to be explored will include Gender, Equity and Social Inclusion; Open and Distance Learning; Building Leadership and Democracy; Free Trade (Is education a service under GATT?) and Autonomy & Accountability.
