About Adelaide

The City of Adelaide Adelaide is the capital of the State of South Australia, founded by free settlers in 1836. Home of Sir Donald Bradman, and scene of the infamous 3rd Test in the 1932-33 Bodyline series, Adelaide in 2005 is a vibrant, creative city of over 1 million that continues to build on its considerable natural advantages to provide quality learning and living environments for its citizens and a range of attractions for visitors.

Its three universities, the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia, are respected internationally for the quality and range of study and research opportunities they provide. The universities are vital contributors to the automotive and food industries, including wine, that lead the State's export growth, while a strong defence R&D cluster is closely aligned with a growing electronics capability. Mineral exploration remains vital to South Australia's ongoing prosperity, while export-oriented health and bioscience make a significant, and increasing, economic impact.
