Senior Environmental Scientist
My job as Senior Environmental Scientist with WMC (formerly Western Mining Corporation) means I am responsible for the management of all things biological and hydro-geological associated with the company’s operations at Roxby Downs in northern South Australia. Much of my time is spent addressing environmental issues for endangered species, the Great Artesian Basin and water management and I am also a representative for the minerals industry on the great Artesian Basin Consultative Council.

After completing a Bachelor of Natural Resource Management a Adelaide University in 1990, I worked as a Laboratory Manager at the Nature Education Centre in Adelaide. In 1994 I started working with WMC and have moved through a range of positions, including Environmental Officer and Environmental Scientist before becoming a Senior Environmental Scientist in 2000. While working with WMC, I have also been undertaking a PhD study on the ecology of a small lizard.

While my specialty is in the field of ecology, my training has provided me with the capacity to deal with a wide range of issues including, public reporting, resource use minimisation, airborne emissions, Government and community liaison.

“The best part of a career in natural resource management is that you can make a real difference in the use of important resources, a difference that directly affects the future of our planet.”
