Designed for people seeking a career in the management of environmental resources, this program focuses on flora, fauna, soil, air and water and provides graduates with the knowledge and skills required by private and public sector agencies responsible for the study and management of non-urban environments such as wilderness areas, recreation parks or agricultural systems.
Students have the opportunity to specialise in biological conservation, environmental computer applications, or environmental monitoring during their program and to participate on a field trips to various sites around South Australia, where they will learn the skills in catching and handling native fauna, aging trees, identifying birds, radio-tracking, soil and water sampling and traditional land management practices.

Career options include work as a park ranger, soil conservation officer, landcare group coordinator, vertebrate pest control officer, mine rehabilitation planner, ecological surveyor, project officer, geographic information system operator, land resource officer or environmental officer. Most graduates are employed by government agencies. Some find positions with large companies in the mining industry and others establish themselves as private consultants.
