Agronomy
Agronomy is a mixture of soil science and plant science and often focuses on the management of land and crops. Agronomists are trained to get the best out of the land without damaging the natural environment.

Jobs – what and where?
Australian agronomists and agricultural scientists are in demand around the world because of their expertise in the management of dry and fragile environments and agronomists can find jobs in environments as diverse as rural Australia, developing countries or in international research centres. Their challenge is to make the smartest use of the tools and natural resources available to produce food and still maintain the environment. Their jobs can mean travelling in remote places or working with scientists and farmers to improve land and water use practices.
