Forestry
Caring for and managing forests is what forestry is all about and that can include the wildlife as well as the plants themselves, knowledge of natural heritage and even ecotourism. In many cases working in this field also means managing fire prevention and recreation use of the forests. In private industry, tasks may also include supervision of logging operations.

Jobs – what and where?
Most forestry workers are located in country areas and some are in isolated locations though more senior research and administrative staff tend to be located near towns. Employment opportunities are reported to be growing in the plantation forest sector, with positions such as forest technical officers. Additional training and study have been identified as significant factors in obtaining employment as competition for these positions tends to be strong.
