Major
Gifts
Reasons for making a gift to the University of Adelaide vary
greatly. You may wish to benefit society, accomplish a personal
goal or you may value highly the experience you had while attending
this University, and wish to invest in providing that same experience
to current and future students. Whatever the reason, all of
our donors share a commitment to supporting the University of
Adelaide in its pursuit of world class excellence in teaching
and research.
Making a donation of this kind is a very personal experience and
you are encouraged to support an area of special interest to you.
Your gift could benefit our comprehensive Scholarship Program, which
assists the University in attracting high-achieving students from
wide ranging backgrounds, or you may wish to support an academic
chair, research or a project relating to a specific faculty or department
from one of the University's four campuses. Restoration and refurbishment
of the buildings on campus is important if they are to retain their
cultural beauty and your contribution to this work would be invaluable.
If you do not have a preference on where to direct your support,
you may elect to provide discretionary funds which the University
can divert to high priority areas and needs.
Donations to the University of Adelaide qualify for tax deductibility
and we encourage you to discuss with your financial advisor the
tax advantages available to you personally.
How can I make a major gift?
There are a number of ways you can make a major gift:
- You can endow a gift towards a specific purpose such as an academic
post. The endowed funds will be held within the University's Composite
Fund and only the income from the principal will be expended,
thus enabling your gift to continue in perpetuity.
- You can make a gift for current use to support a specific purpose
such as the refurbishment of a building.
- You can make an unrestricted gift allowing the University to
respond to top priorities and changing needs at its discretion.
How will we recognise your gift?
We will discuss with you, how your gift can be recognised. Significant
gifts may attract naming opportunities which will immortalise the
gift, in the donor's honour or in memory of a person of
the donor's choosing.
