2017 Distinguished Alumni Awards

The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognise the outstanding contribution and significant impact made by our alumni. Established in 1991 by the trustees of the former Alumni
Association, they are awarded to alumni who have enhanced the reputation of the
University through outstanding service to the community or who have
made an outstanding contribution in their chosen fields.

Nominations have now closed. Award winners will be announced in October.

View highlights from the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony

On September 9, 2016 the University of Adelaide recognised the achievements of its most outstanding alumni at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony. Awards presented at the ceremony included the Distinguished Alumni Award, James McWha Award of Excellence, Honours Alumni University Medal, Postgraduate Alumni and the University Medal and Alumni Fellows.

Professor Adrian Cheok

A pioneer in mixed reality, Adrian was recognised for his achievements and contribution in the field of computing, engineering and multisensory communication.


Dr Kenneth Collins AM

Medical practitioner and tireless community worker involved in eradicating polio.


Dr Wolodymyr (Wally) Melnitchouk

I've been extremely fortunate that my research has allowed me to address fascinating questions about the work of the universe.

An internationally renowned scientist in nuclear and particle physics.


Timothy Sexton

One of Australia’s foremost musicians and innovative artistic directors, Timothy has been recognised for his achievements and contribution in the field of opera and musical theatre direction, production and composition.
