ANZCA 2006 UPDATE 29TH JUNE

This is a referred conference and all submissions will go through a referee process unless the author chooses not to. Papers are invited in all aspects of Media and Communication themes that explore creative and innovative ways that media and communication can be used as empowering and enriching tools in the 21st Century. The presentation can be in form of productions, research presentations, workshops, interactive designs and simulations or installations. Break the mould, be creative, be innovative, and make a difference!

Grant Noble Prize for Postgraduate students
To be eligible you must be a full-time postgraduate student and get a letter endorsing your full-time enrolment status from your supervisor and which also states that you do not hold an academic staff position. You cannot hold any academic position. Academic staff are not eligible for
consideration even if they are completing a postgraduate qualification. This confirmatory letter needs to be sent to the Conference Convenor with your paper and an email requesting your wish to be considered for this award. If you have already submitted your abstract and would like to be considered for the award, all you need to do is send the above letter with a note to the conference convenor. Check the anzca website for submission details.
Panels
Panels are meant to develop single themes or explore an issue from a variety of perspectives.

Abstracts for panel discussions should include:

  • a description of the issue or theme of the panel
  • the name and particular perspective of each participant
  • an explanation of the significance of the panel to the conference theme and media and communication scholarship
  • the intended audience and how audience members will benefit from the panelno more than three panelists and be 90 minutes long.

Workshops
Workshops create opportunity for discussion and participation around a single issue or skill set. Attendees actively get involved during the session.

Abstracts for workshops should include:

  • a definition of the issue or activity being addressed
  • the nature of attendees' participation
  • the relevance to the conference theme
  • the expected outcomes for attendees
  • duration of the workshop (normally one hour or less)
