Arbitration in Perspective
Arbitration and mediation are the best known means of alternative dispute
resolution (ADR) carried on outside the courts. They are increasingly talked about,
and there is now a national course provided in each state by the University of
Adelaide in association with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia
that provides a Professional Certificate program in Arbitration.
As ADR processes are private, and not publicly accessible
like the Courts, very few people have seen any of the processes
that they use.
The University and the Institute have produced a DVD of
a hypothetical case to demonstrate how the processes are handled
in real life.
Performed by people who are all experts in their field, the DVD gives as
close a glimpse as an outsider might get into the real life processes of ADR.
With the DVD comes a comprehensive booklet giving full preliminary conference
agenda and answers to various questions on the process of Arbitration.
