Translational Health Research Division
Major research theme for ARCH for 2008-2012 is:
Promoting and supporting evidence based health care
The effective translation of results from maternal perinatal research
into clinical practice is needed for research knowledge to benefit women
and their baby's health. There are many barriers to implementing best evidence
with widespread variation in the uptake of effective therapies.
The Translational Health Division's key research strategies over the next
five years, to benefit women and babies, are:-
- To undertake further research on interventions to improve best practice
in maternal perinatal health.
- To continue to develop and help develop national and local clinical
practice guidelines.
- To continue to develop a national system for rating levels and bodies
of evidence and to continuously improve the standards for developing national
guidelines.
- To continue to contribute to international systems of reporting quality
for research reports, such as CONSORT (Consolidated Standards Of Reporting
Trials).
