About the !mpact Awards
Innovation is about ideas, and the transformation of those ideas into value creating outcomes – social, cultural, economic or environmental impacts on society. The !mpact Awards are about celebrating South Australia's R&D 'impacts' on society.
Adelaide Research & Innovation launched the !mpact Awards in 2007 to recognise and reward researchers from the University of Adelaide and affiliated organisations who are contributing to innovation and entrepreneurship in South Australia through applied science and industry engagement.
The program offers a total of $30,000 in prize money for the best in their class - funds which will be put back into research. (Maximum 3 x $10,000 prizes for Excellence in Research2Business Engagement).
The Awards are promoted to more than 20,000 students, teachers and researchers in South Australia's R&D network, as well as the wider business community.
Adelaide Research & Innovation, the commercial development company of the University of Adelaide, is committed to fostering positive partnerships between industry and academia that will deliver innovative results and research excellence.
ARI brings together the latest commercial, legal, intellectual property, business and marketing skills to provide a full range of innovation management and commercialisation services for the University of Adelaide and affiliated institutions. ARI has been working with researchers and industry for more than 20 years to translate ideas and inventions.
The University of Adelaide is South Australia’s most research intensive University. It is ranked among the top eight in Australia and among the world’s top 100 universities by the influential Times Higher Education Supplement in both 2004 and 2005. Together with it's affiliates, the University represents that State's largest pool of researchers engaging with industry. That's why these Awards are a tribute to the success of the State as a whole.
Aims of the Program:
-
To promote South Australian R&D stengths and successful partnerships between academia and industry
-
To recognise current and next generation entrepreneurs
-
To improve collaboration between the State's industry, education & R&D sectors
-
To encourage best practice intellectual property protection
