Ways to Engage a Researcher

The first step is to contact ARI to discuss your research needs. One your needs have been identified, we can work with you to choose the most appropriate form of engagement. There are a number of ways to engage with the University, and each can be tailored to suit specific projects to enable small and large organisations to access our multi-disiplinary research talent to address specific R&D issues. Examples of modes of engagement include:

Consultancy

The University of Adelaide's consulting expertise can be used in a variety of ways that can add value to a company's business and provide applied novel solutions to real world problems. Through ARI, you can contract the skills and expertise of University staff, and gain access to the specialised equipment required to meet your needs.

Contract Research

ARI can also assist in providing the expertise and resources for larger research projects. For these contracts, with clearly defined objectives and budgets, our commercial development team will negotiate ownership of intellectual property between the parties (you and the University).

Collaboration

Collaborative research projects are jointly funded between the University and an industry partner, and may also gain access to government funding where applicable. Ownership of the intellectual property is negotiated between the parties depending on their financial and intellectual contributions (and any previous agreements involving IP).

Testing

A number of specialised testing facilities exist within the University which can also be contracted through ARI. The University's testing facilities deliver accurate measurement and diagnostic services by experience technical staff.

Expert Opinion Services

If you require the opinion of an expert on a technical or scientific level, ARI can arrange access for you to University academics or research professionals who will provide an objective, unbiased report.

Industry-Based Training & Development

A variety of the University's divisions are able to provide training and development programs for your staff, customised to suit your organisations goals and delivered on your terms eg. on-site or at a separate training venue.
