Commercialisation
|
University researchers are constantly generating novel intellectual property with the potential for significant impact in the community and are encouraged to consider that path alongside other ways of translating their knowledge into application. As a result of University policy researchers are also entitled to share in the benefit from commercial returns received from successful commercialisation.
What is commercialisation?
- Commercialisation may take many forms, including licensing or assignment of rights to information or technologies; the creation of a spin off company to take promising innovations to market; or even sale of products. It may also result from research collaborations between the University and an industry partner or government agency.
