Commercial Accelerator Scheme (CAS)The University of Adelaide aims to put more of its research discoveries on the path to commercialisation with a proof-of-concept fund for researchers.2012 Dates to Remember
Since 2007 ARI has provided direct cash support to commercially focussed research projects, leading to major commercial outcomes and excellent leverage of other funding sources. CAS addresses a recognised gap in funding known as the "valley of death" between traditional research funding and the market. It has provided a bridge for many projects to successful licence or other funding options, and as a result of its success ARI and the DVC&VP(R) have committed to continuing the scheme into 2012. Overview of the Scheme The aim of the Commercial Accelerator Scheme is to support projects and activities that are designed to develop a technology with solid commercial potential to a stage where it is able to attract external investment, or be licensable or otherwise exploited by a third party.
Eligibility Commercial Accelerator Scheme funding is available to staff members of the University of Adelaide (full-time or part-time). Staff of hospitals and other institutions who are Clinical or Affiliate Titleholders are not eligible. Applicants are required to register their interest with their ARI Commercial Development Manager (CDM). CDM's will assess relevant commercial and IP issues and work with applicants on the proposal.
