The University of Adelaide Australia

Call for Papers

XIVth Annual Conference
of the
Australian Society for French Studies

Utopias/Dystopias

to be held at
The University of Adelaide
(South Australia)

July 11-13, 2006
(Reception to be held on the evening of July 10)

Proposals of papers for the above conference are now invited.  Papers may be given in either English or French.  Proposals, which should include a title, an abstract (no more than 200 words) and contact information, must reach the conference convenors (see below) by March 31, 2006.

A principal aim of the conference is to bring together scholars from a wide variety of disciplines.  The theme has been chosen with this objective in mind.  Areas that we hope to cover include:  utopian/ dystopian literature, cinematic visions of utopia/dystopia, utopian social movements, the utopian/dystopian city, escapist/apocalyptic visions, ideal/dysfunctional worlds/societies.

In keeping with the tradition of the Australian Society for French Studies, the chosen theme is not exclusive and papers on any other aspect of French Studies will also be welcome.  The participation of post-graduate students is also warmly encouraged.
