Academic Women's Promotion Forum - Friday 11 April

The AWF Promotion forum will be held in the Mitchell Building,104 Basten Room on Friday 11 April 2008 from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm.

These meetings are to provide women with practical and strategic advice and information on preparing and writing a promotion application - whether they are applying in 2008 or in the future.

Managing Stress and Being Successful

A certain amount of stress and worry are an inevitable and necessary part of working. If stress and worry become too much they interfere with productive work; if you manage stress and worry correctly you will become more productive. Stress and worry can be managed by developing a lifestyle that keeps them under control.

This workshop will describe that lifestyle.

Presenter Profile: Mark O'Donoghue
Student Counsellor, Counselling Centre, The University of Adelaide; Work Place Counsellor, Access-Ocar Services; Trainer, Adelaide North Eastern Division of General Practice; BA Hons (Psych), B Soc Admin, Grad Dip Family Therapy, Member AASW
Mark has taught stress management courses for: students in this university, for Professional and Continuing Education for workers and works as an EAP (Employee Assistant Program) counsellor helping employees manage stress.

Join us for an interactive workshop where we will explore the issues, challenges and tensions around managing work and elderly (or ill) parents from a variety of perspectives.

The workshop is an opportunity to connect with other women and to share stories and practical strategies. Whether you have children or not, this session will provide valuable insights on how to 'manage work and children' so that you can discover which strategies work best for you - now and in the future.
