"If he (the enemy) is superior in strength, evade him. If his forces are united, separate them. Attack him where he is unprepared; appear where you are not expected." - Sun Tzu
Welcome to Exploring Asymmetric Warfare: a new approach to analysing security threats and responses. In this forum you will come to understand more properly the new security environment Australia faces in East Asia.

This forum will provide a broad-based insight into the military and non-military components of Australia's new strategic landscape looking at how the weak attempt to assert their national or organisational will against the strong through the possession of weapons of mass destruction; the conduct of terrorist operations; and eyeball-to-eyeball diplomatic standoffs.

It will also give an insight into how Australia expects to respond to these new and diverse threats to national and allied interests. For instance, does Australia have any asymmetric advantages itself? Can it respond effectively to asymmetric incidents whenever and wherever they occur? Are there distinct limits to Australia's ability to respond to asymmetric threats and incidents and if so, what might they be?

Join us in Adelaide from October 1 to 3 to explore a new approach to analysing security threats and responses.
