Campus Setting

Located on Adelaide's cultural boulevard of North Terrace, the main campus contains many of the University's original buildings. Recent years have seen the rise of new buildings to accommodate world class schools. The modern, well-equipped lecture theatres and seminar rooms, central city location and access to the River Torrens parklands make it a popular venue for national and international conferences.

Studying at the University of Adelaide means being part of a rich tradition of excellence in education and research, with world-class academics and a vibrant student life.

The Students
Total student enrolments in 2007 increased to 20,478. North Terrace (includes teaching hospitals) had 18,496 students, including 134 Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students. The University had 4,739 international students - onshore from more than 90 countries. Many high achieving undergraduates go on to do honours and postgraduate study. Our graduates have skills that go beyond the workplace, they make an impact on the world - degrees with life impact.

The Faculties
The University is known internationally for excellence in research and teaching. Many of our academic staff are national and international leaders in their fields. Quality education is a strong focus of the five faculties:

Directions
Adelaide Airport is located 7km from the city centre and the University of Adelaide. Travel time is approximately 15 minutes by car from the airport to North Terrace.

  • Take Airport Road (north) departing international / domestic terminal (3 mins)
  • Turn right (east) onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive - ahead to city (8 mins)
  • Turn left (north) on West Terrace - ahead to North Terrace (2 mins)
  • Turn right (east) on North Terrace - ahead to Pulteney Street (2 mins)
  • Arrive at the University of Adelaide, North Terrace, Gate 23.

The interstate bus terminal is located on Franklin Street in the city. The interstate train station is approximately 10 minutes by car to the city centre, and is located in the suburb of Keswick.

Public Transport
Adelaide Metro buses and the railway station are on North Terrace in the city. This site is very helpful for new students or visitors who may not have their own transport.

Inter Campus Shuttle Bus service
'University Shuttle' travels between campus locations of the Faculty of Sciences.

Parking Permits
Applications for permits are made online.

The University of Adelaide, North Terrace Campus, has a limited number of parking spaces available for staff, students and the general public during specified times. Parking permits are issued in order to control the number of parking spaces within the North Terrace campus and associated off campus parking bays.

After Hours Public Parking Times And Fees

Parking is available after hours to the public, staff and students without current parking permit. Tickets must be purchased from ticket machines located either level of the Underground Car Park - inside Gate 23 North Terrace, inside Gate 10 Victoria Drive and Gate 13 Kintore Avenue. Tickets must be clearly displayed on the right hand side of the dashboard.

After hours are:
Monday to Friday after 4.30pm until 9:15am the following day.
All day Saturday, Sunday and any SA public holiday.

Note: Public holidays do not include semester vacation or the University Christmas break
