How to Successfully Manage a Career Break

Career breaks are inherent in all our lives and managing them is a crucial skill for a successful career.

How to Successfully Manage a Career Break. CaRST Credit 4 hours. B: Personal Effectiveness. Face to Face and Online.

Taking extended leave from work can be for child rearing, caring for family members, moving continents or countries, switching jobs or careers, or simply taking a gap year to travel or pursue a passion. In this two-part workshop, we explore how to exploit these breaks to the best of your advantage. We will discuss how to plan these breaks to fit your desired career, what to do during your leave to keep your career on track, and how to manage and discuss them with your potential employer, especially in the case of unexpected events.

Part I of the workshop is an online program and involves completion of a course in MyUni. This online program can be completed any time independently of the face-to-face workshop.

Part II is a face-to-face workshop involving group discussions with other participants and featuring several academics and professional staff from diverse disciplines who will be sharing their own journeys.
