CURRENT INFORMATION

At login, please allow  time for policies and settings to be pushed out to the
workstation. This should only take 15 - 20 seconds but may take up to two minutes when the labs are busy.

FOOD AND DRINK

ABSOLUTELY no food or drink, with the exception of bottled water, will be accepted in any Lab. If food or drink is seen on your desktop, your account will be locked for 14 days. No questions will be asked.
Please keep ALL FLUIDS off the desktop.

PROBLEMS PRINTING WITH PDF FILES

Some PDF files are proving problematic with the Canon laser printers. Currently CATS Laser-2 will occasionally lock up trying to print a particular PDF. If this happens try sending the file to CATS Laser-1 if it is not already your default printer (it is for Lab-E and Lab-F). If a PDF file does not seem to print, please see the CATS Staff. It may be stuck in the print queue.

QIKDRAW PRINTING

QikDraw no longer requires a special, dedicated print queue to print correctly. Just send your file from QikDraw to the default printer or any of the other CATS printers.

Reporting Faults

Please be aware CATS Staff are not experts in application software. They are able to help with some Microsoft Office support but enquiries regarding the specialised software available for Engineering should be directed to your Lecturer or Tutor.

Students who are having hardware problems should report all faults to the CATS office which is staffed between 8:00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday (excluding weekends and public holidays). There are document holders in each lab with "Out of Order" signs. Please place a sign on the defective PC and email cats@adelaide.edu.au with any information that may be relevant to the PC failure. Please include the Lab (A - F) and the PC number (located on the PC or on the monitor stand).

Should a staff member be holding a lecture in the CATS suite and require immediate support they should seek assistance from the CATS office. If the office is unattended a notice on the door will indicate which lab the ITS staff member is in. If you are still unable to locate the ITS support staff then ring the ITS Helpdesk (33000 or **4) using the phones provided in the labs and ask to be put through to the CATS mobile number.

ITS treat all lecture faults in Labs with the highest priority, and will immediately have staff available to work through the problem.
