Staff Information

Staff Logon on CATS teaching machines

Due to the secure environment at CATS, staff are not able to logon to most teaching machines using their own staff credentials. Every engineering faculty has their own staff generic logon credentials. If you are not sure of the details, please click on link below or you can see the CATS support staff.

CATS Staff Generic Logon accounts for different faculties

Ingkarni Wardi CATS - Please take note of the different credentials needed in order to logon to teaching suites at Ingkarni Wardi that have both MyMedia lectern PC and a Wacom Tablet.

*MyMedia Lectern PC : Can only accept using the lectern logon "lecture/lecture", or your own LDAP credentials.

*Wacom Tablet : Can only accept using CATS Staff generic logon credentials.

Requiring assistance during or before a lecture

Should a staff member holding a lecture in CATS requires immediate support, they should seek assistance from the CATS front desk. If front desk is unattended, kindly contact Technology Services Desk on 830 33000 (or **1 using lab phones) and ask to be put through to the CATS mobile.

ITS treat all lecture faults in computing suites with the highest priority and will immediately have staff available to work through the problem.

Additional software requests

Requests for additions/changes to student computer suites are to come from academics/staff only, and can be lodged by clicking here. It is important that all details are complete.  Please be aware that if any details are not completed this could mean that your software request may not be actioned in time for the next teaching period.

It is important to note that the window for requests is twice per year and this is strictly adhered to.  If a request is received outside these windows there may be a charge for any overtime incurred.

Even the most minor change to the CATS image may take a minimum of one week's effort. In addition to this work being completed, there is a requirement to have the application tested by an academic to ensure it behaves as expected.

During the maintenance windows Teaching Technologies allocates dedicated staff to update the 100+ computer suites across the three campuses. If software is requested to be delivered outside of these predefined maintenance windows, we will endeavour to complete the request. However, as the work will be required to be performed out of hours, cost recovery will be sought from that faculty/school. This will be contingent upon staff availability and may still need to be scheduled.

Further information can be found on the Technology Services website.

What happens if I need an update outside of these maintenance windows?

Even the most minor change to a computer suite image may take a minimum of one day's effort. Some more complicated applications may take a number of days.

This will contingent upon staff availability and may still need to be scheduled.

This approach has been adopted to cause minimal impact to work previously arranged with Teaching Technologies team.
