The Australian Cerebral Palsy Research Study

The University of Adelaide Australia

About the Study

The Australian Cerebral Palsy Research Study is investigating possible genetic causes of cerebral palsy.  We are looking at mutations in genes involved in:

  • Immunity and inflammation,
  • Blood clotting and
  • Exposure to viral infection

Our previous studies have shown a link between these factors and cerebral palsy, however stronger family based evidence is now required.

This is the largest study of its type world wide and has the potential to make a major contribution to our current knowledge of cerebral palsy.  The study has ethical approval in South Australia and is funded and supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
