Tectonothermal evolution of the Western Musgrave Complex, Western Australia
Project Details
The Musgraves Complex is the least known geological terrane in Australia, yet is highly explorative for a range of economic minerals and arguably preserves the evidence that will determine the timing and process by which cratonic Australia amalgamated. This project will involve close collaboration with the Geological Survey of Western Australia who are undertaking a comprehensive mapping programme in the region and will provide full field support. Training will consist of research methodology, field and laboratory techniques that are envisaged to include microstructural, geochemical, and geochronological (U-Pb, Sm-Nd and 40Ar-39Ar) data collection and interpretation and geological synthesis skills.
