India and Australia in the Neoproterozoic: The amalgamation of eastern Gondwana. An ARC proposed Project - DP0771209 Project InvestigatorProject CollaboratorsGlen Phillips Sergei Pisarevsky Talari Chetty Project DetailsKnowing the geography of the Neoproterozoic (1000-542 million years ago) globe is pre-requisite to modelling the Snowball Earth and the distribution of life at the Cambrian explosion. India collided with Australia during this time By finding out when and how this happened, the geography of c.30% of the Neoproterozoic globe would be constrained. We aim to do this by studying the tectonic evolution of the eastern margin of India and western margin of Australia during this time. This project will reinforce Australian science at the forefront of global palaeogeographic research and locate Australia in the Neoproterozoic world. |
