Project details
This project used a combination of magnetotelluric and gravity data to probe the crustal structure of the northern Gawler Craton between the outcropping Gawler Range Volcanics, and the northern edge of the poorly exposed Nawa Subdomain. The aim was to image the geometry of discrete crustal blocks (Christie Subdomain, Coober Pedy & Mabel Creek Ridges, Nawa Subdomain) and the major shear zones that bound them (Karari Shear Zone, Middle Bore Fault, other unnamed shear zones). This enabled constraints to be placed on models for the assembly of southern Australia during the late Archean to Mesoproterozoic.
