Tectonic linkages between the Musgrave Block and North Australian Craton: correlations, event chronology, and tectonothermal regimes.
Project Investigator
Project Details
This project investigates the tectonic links between the Musgrave Province and the North Australia Craton in central Australia. Incorporating postulated plate boundaries and intracontinental tectonic systems; this region holds the key for models seeking to explain the evolution of the Australian Proterozoic. For the first time this project will allow a comparison of tectonic records from adjacent regions thought to encompass the two end member systems (plate margin and plate interior) that have been the source of conjecture over the past 15-20 years. The outcomes will be a set of constrained event histories that will underpin future models for the evolution of Proterozoic Australia.
