Adelaide Airport Limited

AAL is the new inaugural Platinum Partner of the CET, in a three year relationship worth $750,000.

Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) is responsible for the operations of Adelaide and Parafield Airports. Being responsible for the prime gateway to South Australia, AAL is focused on providing more than seven million passengers annually with efficient, comfortable and world-class services. It also aims to demonstrate international leadership as an environmentally responsible organisation by being the most sustainable airport in Australia.

To reduce its own carbon footprint and contribute towards a sustainable environment, Adelaide Airport has partnered with The University of Adelaide's Centre for Energy Technology (CET) for the research and development of clean energy solutions.

The aims of the partnership are:
  • To undertake research and develop novel clean energy technologies and practices that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions for the mutual benefit of CET and of AAL in support of AAL’s drive to be the most ecologically sustainable airport in Australia and CET’s drive to be a world-leading research centre in clean energy technology;
  • To provide high profile leadership in how organisations and people can advance clean energy practices;
  • To develop a deep and mutual understanding of each organisation’s strategic direction and capabilities so that the CET and AAL can help each other achieve their common goals and objectives, by generating new ideas approaches and solutions.

Clean Energy Partnership - Adelaide Airport Limited & The University of Adelaide - Investing in cleaner energy research to become Australia's most sustainable airport

The partnership will be overseen by a management committee, chaired by Dr. Russell Synnot, a leading environment consultant with substantial experience in the aviation sector. Apart from direct benefits to Adelaide Airport, both parties will work together to ensure the outcomes of the partnership will raise greater awareness of the long term benefits of sustainable energy and the significant benefits of clean technology for other public spaces, such as shopping complexes and office buildings.
