Technologies that help to improve the generation, transmission, conversion and utilisation of electrical energy are a key part of transition to a sustainable energy future.
Within the Electrical Technologies area, the CET has strong expertise in the area of electrical drives, power electronics and control. We have been involved in the design of specialised electric motor drives for a range of applications including high-performance automotive generators, high-efficiency electrically-driven pumps, small-scale grid-connected wind turbine generators and fault-tolerant aircraft auxiliary drives.
We also have experience in data-acquisition, condition monitoring of electrical machines and electrical power quality monitoring. In this area we have been involved in projects such as automated electric drive dynamometer testing, low-cost automatic fault detection systems for induction machines and algorithm development for power quality monitoring.
