About the Children's Research Centre

The CRC unites research groups from within the Discipline of Paediatrics with affiliated collaborators of the University of Adelaide and the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service.

The primary objective of the Children's Research Centre is to enhance the well-being of children and adolescents by conducting competitive clinical and basic research, and applying it in clinical, public health and policy settings.

Within a framework of focusing on common childhood disorders, the aims of the Children's Research Centre are to:

  • Establish a cross disciplinary children's health research team across basic and applied science as well as the disciplines of clinical and public health;

  • Design and conduct clinical research studies, including intervention trials, to improve children's health;

  • Strengthen existing collaborations and promote new collaborations within Australia and internationally to optimise research into the improvement of children's health;

  • Enhance the recruitment and quality of supervision and research training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in children's health;

  • Assist in bringing research evidence into clinical and public health practice and health policy change by promoting effective translation; and

  • Strengthen mechanisms to enhance links and collaborations with state and federal governments to more rapidly translate research findings into policy and practice.
