Cory XianProfessor Cory Xian from the Bone Growth Stream wins $300,000 ARC Linkage Project Grant

Cory and his co-investigators will use these funds to determine whether the anti-inflammatory properties of Australian emu oil can overcome osteoporosis caused by cancer chemotherapy in children.

Nick SmithDr Nick Smith from the University of Cambridge joins the Neuromotor Stream

Nick's primary research interests lie in childhood neurodegenerative diseases and paediatric disorders of movement.

In his new role at the Children's Research Centre he will focus primarily on lysosomal disease, and the development of new treatments for children and adults with metabolic disorders.

We are delighted to welcome Nick on board.

 

Bruce FosterAssociate Professor Bruce Foster from the Bone Growth Stream becomes Senior South Australian of the Year for 2012

Bruce has been granted this award in recognition of 30 years of bone research and clinical practice, including the establishment of the Bone Growth Foundation.

He has devoted his medical career to pioneering new treatments for bone deformities and skeletal diseases in children that currently have no cure.

Bruce Foster 

Associate Professor Bruce Foster from the Bone Growth Stream has become a Member of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to medical research and professional development in the field of paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

His award was announced by the Governor-General as part of the official Australia Day celebrations on 26th January.
