Program

The Australasian Housing Researchers' Conference is fundamentally an academic research conference and this is reflected in the program of events for the conference. The conference is structured to allow maximum time for researchers to share their findings and insights with their peers, allowing numerous sessions for researchers to challenge conventions around housing and the housing system and to expand our housing knowledge generally.

In line with past conferences, the AHRC12 centres on an extensive program of concurrent sessions and small number of keynote addresses by leading national and international experts. All sessions will link to the overarching conference theme: "Housing in an Era of Risk and Crisis".

The program for the AHRC12 also includes:

  • Lord Mayoral Reception
  • Conference Dinner (including the ECR Award presentation)
  • Field Trip

As well as key Australasian experts, the conference includes a dynamic and interesting program of keynote addresses centred around the theme; "Housing in an Era of Risk and Crisis". Details to be advised.

The full program of keynote speakers, concurrent sessions and social events for the AHRC12 is currently being finalised and a proposed schedule will be released in due course.

The conference will run over two and a half days from the morning of Wednesday 8 February to lunchtime on Friday 10 February 2012.

Day one: conference delegates will be treated to an interesting schedule of keynote addresses in the morning, followed by a series of concurrent sessions. Day one of the conference concludes with the Lord Mayoral Reception.

Day two: commences with an interesting Field Trip showcasing key developments in metropolitan Adelaide. Upon return to the University of Adelaide's city campus delegates will have lunch before another half day of concurrent sessions. Day two of the conference concludes with the important Conference Dinner at the stately Ayres House on North Terrace, a short stroll from the University campus. The AHRC12 Housing Minister's Award for Early Career Researchers (the ECR Award) will be announced at the Conference Dinner, and delegates will be treated to an informative presentation as part of the night's proceedings.

Day three: Day three of the conference will commence with a short program of keynote addresses. Following this the program includes further concurrent sessions and a final panel session discussing the conference and future directions. Details of the 7th Australasian Housing Researchers' Conference will be announced at the conclusion of the conference.

After the conference concludes (and perhaps for the weekend!), delegates are encouraged to roam around central Adelaide, take in the attractions such as the Giant Pandas at the Adelaide Zoo, the Art Gallery of South Australia or experience our cafe culture.
