General Information

Location

The welcome reception on Tuesday 7 December 2004 and all technical sessions on the 8-10 December 2004 will be held in the Union Building on the North Terrace Campus of The University of Adelaide.

The conference dinner held on Friday 10 December 2004 will be held in the Ballroom of the Radisson Playford Hotel, 120 North Terrace, Adelaide

Buses for the conference tour to the Barossa Valley on Saturday 11 December 2004 will leave from a location near the conference venue. Details will be provided during the conference.

Accommodation

Delegates are required to make their own accommodation arrangements. However, special rates have been negotiated with a number of hotels located near The University of Adelaide. Following are Hotels/Motels offering Government Rates to CICE 2004 delegates and are located approximately within a 10 minute walk to The University of Adelaide. On booking please quote all Conference details.

Flight Bookings

The University of Adelaide preferred travel agent, American Express Travel, has agreed to offer University rates to delegates of CICE 2004. Delegates may email adluniteam@aexp.com to make enquiries and/or bookings. All correspondence must be made to the attention of Judith and refer to CICE 2004.

Visas

All international visitors require a valid passport and visa for entry into Australia. It is recommended that you apply for your visa early. For further information, please visit: http://www.immi.gov.au

Airport Transfers

The Adelaide CBD is approximately 15 minutes from the Airport. Shuttle buses and taxis are readily available to arriving passengers. Taxis from Adelaide airport to the CBD cost approximately AUD$12 - $15. Delegates are required to make their own airport transfer arrangements.

Climate and Temperature

Adelaide's climate is often described as Mediterranean. At the time of the conference, it will be early summer when the mean maximum temperature is 26.8 ºC and the mean minimum temperature is 15.5 ºC.

Currency

Exchange facilities are available at all domestic and international airports in Australia. Changing foreign currency is easy at most banks and Bureau de Change outlets.

Electricity

The electrical current in Australia is 240/250 volts, AC 50 Hz. A 3-pin power point outlet is standard and you may require an adaptor socket.

Insurance

Both personal health and travel insurance is recommended.

Tax

Australia applies a tax to the purchase of both goods and services called the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The rate of tax that applies to taxable products and services is 10%.

It is essential that you notify the conference chairman of any dietary or other requirements well in advance so arrangements can be made to accommodate your needs.
