Development
Introduction
The School of Economics has a long tradition of research on economic
development. Ongoing area specializations are reflected in the separate
programs on China and on Indonesia. Since the early 1990s associates
of the CIES have also had a strong research interest in the formerly
centrally planned economies of Asia in Indochina and in Central
Asia.
Subject interests mirror the school’s strengths in international
economics, with particular emphasis on trade polices and on international
finance.
The CIES Research Program in Development has fosters research in
these areas. For research already underway see Program
Publications. The Program Leader is Richard
Pomfret, Professor of Economics, University of Adelaide and
Research Associate, CIES.
Comments about the program are welcome, as are possibilities for
research collaboration. Please contact richard.pomfret@adelaide.edu.au
