The Writing Centre

The ALL Writing Centre is located in Room 346a Barr Smith Library on the North Terrace Campus (see map below). The centre will be open in Semester 2 between 10 August - 6 November 2009 and including the mid-semester break.

The ALL Writing Centre is free to students currently enrolled at the University of Adelaide. Drop-in to see an Academic Learning & Language lecturer. They are available for individual consultations to help you develop your essay and report writing skills. No appointment is necessary, but students are advised to arrive early.

  • Consultations are generally of 15-30 minutes duration
  • Undergraduate students will benefit from attending ALL Semester Seminars
  • For greater assistance, please bring your course guide, assignment question, comments from your lecturers/tutors, and drafts of your writing
Undergraduate Students Mondays & Wednesdays 2:00pm - 4:30pm

Closed FRIDAYS

Tuesdays & Thursdays 10.00am - 12:30pm

Honours and Postgraduate Coursework (PGCW) students are able to meet with Dr Bill Winser (bill.winser@adelaide.edu.au) for assistance with essay and thesis/report writing.

Honours & Postgraduate Coursework Students Tuesdays 12:30pm - 3:30pm

The ALL Writing Centre is not an editing or grammar checking service. You will work with lecturers to develop the academic skill to:

  • brainstorm ideas
  • unpack the assignment question
  • critically analyse and interpret evidence
  • incorporate research
  • recognise mechanical and grammatical problems
  • design, develop and execute an essay/report/thesis
  • reference correctly and avoid plagiarism
