Essential Course Materials

Staff need to be familiar with the Student Ancillary Fees and Charges Policy including 4.2.1c with regard to Essential Course Materials where courses are not delivered 'entirely or primarily online' that states

The first copy of the following essential course materials must be available to students at no charge in hard copy format:

i Course outlines, reading lists, tutorial or seminar topics and problems;
ii Requirements for assessment and guidelines for the presentation of work; and,
iii Manuals and workbooks for use in clinics, laboratories, workshops or practicals.

The essential course materials can also be provided online via MyUni , however students must be provided with hard copy format and there should be no obligation that students need to download the first copy of essential course materials. Faculties may choose to make repeat copies of course materials available in an online format (4.2.1d).

4.2.1e states that Hard copies of other essential course materials not defined in 4.2.1c may be sold for a price, if free access is also available to students in another format which is regarded as readily and effectively available. Providing these other essential course materials online via MyUni qualifies as free access and readily and effectively available format.

Non-essential Course Materials

Any non-essential course materials can be provided in any format, including online via MyUni .

Access to Computers, Printing, the Internet and other Online Resources

With regard to printing any online course materials, each student is allocated a quota for free printing, which can be increased by lecturers on request. Students are able to purchase additional quota for personal use. Lecturers should take this into consideration when uploading course materials into MyUni .

Course materials should be formatted to ensure that the file size is minimised and that all students are able to access them readily.
