Situational Learning Expo
The expo showcased examples of scenario-based learning projects developed during a three-week period under the direction of Dr Randall Kindley, a performance improvement consultant and President of The Performance Group, Minneapolis, USA.
The expo included several of the Julian Burton Burns Trust, RAH and Clinical Nursing projects which included:
- Care of facial burns
- Burns depth assessment
- Calculation of Total Burn Surface area and Fluid resuscitation requirements
- Application of hand splints
- Pressure area risk assessment and management
- Care of the patient with a tracheostomy
- Application of Biobrane
- Client assessment
- Interview and staff appraisal techniques
It also showcased several TAFE SA projects including:
- English as a Second Language: "It's an emergency"
(Responding to First Aid emergency situations)
- Building and Furnishing: the business of subcontracting
- Venepuncture processes (Nursing)
- Admission interviews (Nursing)
- Escorting valuables and persons (Justice Studies)
- Demonstrated characteristics of Mental Health Problems
- Child Care
- "Do the ducks have to die" Environmental Management of Urrbrae Wetlands

Colloquium: Information Savvy in an Information Age
Helping students develop Information Literacy

The purpose of the colloquium was to promote the coherent development of information literacy across all disciplines and throughout all programs. The colloquium, gave an overview of information literacy, considered its application to specific disciplines and ended with a discussion forum.
