C-IV.

Evaluate information / data and the inquiry process comprehensively using self-determined criteria developed within structured guidelines.

As noted in BIV, structured guidelines are required at Level 4 to scaffold students as they move towards fully autonomous inquiry. These may be in the form of marking criteria, or other forms of boundary setting to enable a higher likelihood of research that is valid in the discipline of concern. Within these relatively flexible parameters, students determine their strategies for evaluating literature or research methods to generate data, ensuring that they are relevant to their research question/hypothesis/aim.
