Sessional Teaching Program: Self-Access ModulesThe modules are a self-access introduction to some basic principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. They are designed to help you in the preparation of your teaching programs. They are also a resource to return to while teaching. As a new academic staff member you may sometimes need some quick tips on handling laboratory sessions, tutorials or lectures, or for setting or marking assignments. The tips provided here are practical suggestions for some commonly experienced situations. The modules are intended to stimulate your ideas, with a combination of your own personal experience, reflecting on how you yourself learn, what worked for you as a learner and what you observe in your students, together with the ideas and experiences of others as recorded in scholarly writings on higher education. There are also links to more in-depth discussions of the underlying principles. These are intended to help you work out your own approaches based on the ideas and experiences of others. Index to ModulesA set of resources for those beginning teaching in higher education. The exercises contain a number of activities plus some practical tips, while the topic overview provide a summary of key ideas related to the topic.
