About University Engagement
The University of Adelaide has recently undergone a restructure of its engagement activities and as of 1st March 2013, The Office of Community Engagement merged with Development and Alumni to form University Engagement.
The Office for Community Engagement is now formally known as University Engagement, Partnerships and Projects.
University Engagement has been created to support and directly align with the University of Adelaide's 'Beacon of Enlightenment' Strategic Plan 2013 - 2023
Director, Partnerships and Projects, Mr Martyn Evans
The University of Adelaide appointed Mr Martyn Evans to the position of Director, Community Engagement, in July 2007. Mr Evans is well known to the wider community as a former Northern suburbs Mayor, and subsequently as a State and Federal Member of Parliament. Mr Evans has a Science degree from the University of Adelaide and postgraduate business administration qualifications. He was a member of the University Council from 1974 to 1992. He has held Parliamentary Committee and State Ministerial positions in the portfolios of Health, Family and Community Services, and Ageing, as well as serving as Federal Shadow Minister for Science and Information Technology, and Resources. Since leaving Parliament in 2004, he has worked as a private consultant to government and industry focusing on pharmaceutical and science related matters. The overarching role of Director, Community Engagement is to develop, maintain and enhance University relationships with the community, government and business. In this role, Mr Evans will seek to identify and coordinate University community engagement initiatives through close and continued consultation with all levels of government and government agencies, business and the wider community. |
