Responsibilities of the Industry

To identify a suitable project and nominate a supervisor who will be the contact for the student and University staff.
The process requires a supervisor to:
- Assist with and approve a project task description suitable for use in identifying potential postgraduates
- Take part in the selection of the postgraduate
- Allow time for the postgraduate to comply with the requirements of a Masters by Coursework program
- Provide materials, tooling, equipment, etc as required to fulfil the requirements of the project
- Take part in periodic review and progress meetings as considered appropriate
- Arrange for payments on invoice in accordance with the agreement
Benefits to the Industry include:
- A link with University academic departments and staff
- Completion of an agreed project and final report by postgraduate student to meet sponsors requirements
- Access to a postgraduate supported by the resources of the University
- Access to postgraduate knowledge and technical expertise for a 12 month period to complete a specific project

- Ownership of the results of work carried out under the conditions of the collaborative sponsorship agreement

- All administration and public liability insurance undertaken by the University of Adelaide
Responsibilities of the University
The University will nominate an academic supervisor who will:
- Assess the suitability of the task description
- Assist with identifying suitable potential students
- Take part in the selection of the student
- Provide mentor support for the duration of the collaborative sponsored agreement
- Take part in periodic reviews and progress meetings as considered appropriate
Benefits to the Academic Supervisor include:
- Additional links to industry providing potential for further interaction
- A chance to demonstrate to industry the expertise and facilities of the department
- A source of information for consideration in future course material
Responsibilities of the Student

The Postraduate will:
- Undertake an appropriate Masters by Coursework program or other relevant Degree
- Prepare project documentation based on the Task Description for approval by the client and academic supervisor
- Complete the project activities as directed by the client supervisor and academic supervisor
- Provide a final report and agreed documentation
Benefits to the Postgraduate include:
- Paid work experience - a 12 month industry sponsored tax-free scholarship valued at approximately $20,000 paid fortnightly after enrolment
- A link with a company to gain valuable "real-world" industry experience
- Gaining of a Masters by Coursework
- A contribution of up to $9,000 towards a Masters by Coursework program
- Certificate of Participation on completion of placement
