What is WRED?
The Western Region Enterprise Day - WRED is an initiative designed to link local schools, business and government for the benefit of students and to strengthen interaction between the University of Adelaide and the western region of Adelaide.
The initiative was initially funded on a one off basis by the Commonwealth Government in 1997 and is the only one to have continued in South Australia.
The WRED steering committee is made up of representatives from the University of Adelaide which provides coordinating and administrative support through a dedicated community engagement position, Inner West Business Enterprise Centre, Western Futures, Future SACE, SIFE, Ocean View College, Student Representatives, Education Consultants and also Primary and Secondary teachers from schools in the Western Region.
WRED is held in September each year for 200 primary and secondary students who come from the Council areas of Port Adelaide Enfield, Charles Sturt and West Torrens.
