What is WRED?The Western Region Enterprise Day - WRED is an initiative designed to link local schools, business and government for the benefit of students and to strengthen interaction between the University of Adelaide and the western region of Adelaide. The initiative was initially funded on a one off basis by the Commonwealth Government in 1997 and is the only one to have continued in South Australia. The WRED steering committee is made up of representatives from the University of Adelaide which provides coordinating and administrative support through a dedicated community engagement position, Inner West Business Enterprise Centre, Western Futures, Young Achievement Australia, Tall Poppies Campaign, Education Consultants and teachers from schools in the Western Region. WRED is held in September each year for up 100 primary and 100 secondary students who have an interest in developing business opportunities and who come from the Council areas of Port Adelaide Enfield, Charles Sturt and West Torrens. |
