Course Description Teamwork

Characteristics of effective teams; stages of project team development; group norms; project team meetings; managing team conflict; teamwork challenges and problems

Project lifecycle

Keys to project success; project life cycle; modelling product development lifecycle using the waterfall, V-shape and spiral models

Project planning

Project plan process; developing the project plan; creating statement of scope, work breakdown structure and task list; schedule using Gantt chart and network diagram; finding critical paths; determining project risks; evaluating risks to the schedule by PERT

Project monitoring and evaluation

Project control cycle; project tracking; earned value calculation; project audits and reporting; project change orders; closing projects; documentation and communications; monitoring team effectiveness; end-of-project review

Project work

Students are expected to complete a team project in electronic engineering involving teamwork, problem solving, and use of project management and engineering skills.
